The MODELPEAT project in the Sources & Sinks (Q&S) module is looking for a PostDoc for a period of 3 years for statistical GHG modelling, project coordination as well as scientific supervision of two eddy covariance stations

The following part-time position (75 %) is available at the Institute of Ecology and Landscape, Weihenstephan Campus (Freising):

Research Associate (m/f/d)

in the ITMS-MODELPEAT project for the statistical
GHG modelling and project coordination as well as
for the scientific supervision of two eddy covariance stations

The position is limited until 31.01.2027.

Your responsibilities:

• Coordination of the MODELPEAT joint project as part of the nationwide ITMS project
• Active participation in project meetings with the entire ITMS consortium
• Statistical greenhouse gas modelling of peatland emissions for Bavaria
• Drafting of reports
• Operation of two eddy covariance stations, data quality assurance and analysis

Your profile:

You have a keen interest in independent scientific work; a doctorate is an advantage but not a prerequisite. In addition, you have an analytical mindset and are characterised by a goal-oriented way of working. You also have a good command of written and spoken English and a sound knowledge of German. Experience in project coordination and statistical greenhouse gas modelling is desirable. In addition, you have knowledge and experience in a common programming language (R, Python or others) and are confident in working with GIS. Experience with the eddy covariance technique and the handling of large amounts of data is highly appreciated.

Recruitment requirements:

Sie verfügen über ein abgeschlossenes wissenschaftliches Hochschulstudium (Diplom [Univ.] oder
Master) im Bereich Landschaftsökologie, Geoökologie, Agrarmeteorologie, Umweltwissenschaften, Ge-ographie, Umweltingenieurwesen oder in einem vergleichbaren Studiengang.

The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date. Payment will be made in accordance with the provisions of collective bargaining law, subject to fulfilment of the personal and collective bargaining requirements up to pay group 13 TV-L. Taking into account the requirements of the job, the position is also suitable for part-time employment.
