ITMS at the 2026 EGU General Assembly in Vienna
The Integrated Greenhouse Gas Monitoring System for Germany (ITMS) was represented at the 2026 EGU General Assembly in Vienna with a wide range of oral and poster presentations. In addition, several sessions were organized by ITMS members.
The presented work covered a broad spectrum of current research in the field of atmospheric greenhouse gas monitoring. This included, among other topics:
Regional inversion modeling and transport model errors
Aquatic GHG emissions (N₂O & CH₄) from estuaries and coastal waters
Quantification of methane and CO₂ fluxes from forest and peatland ecosystems
Data assimilation with ICON-ART
Use of harmonized atmospheric observations and radon measurements
Operational systems for greenhouse gas monitoring
Standards and good scientific practice in software development
Satellite- and ground-based remote sensing of CO₂ and CH₄
The presentations were delivered by scientists from various ITMS partner institutions.
The conference provided a valuable opportunity for scientific exchange, new collaborations, and discussions on current developments in atmospheric observation and modeling of greenhouse gases, as well as the identification of their sources and sinks.
We would like to thank all participants for the interesting discussions and positive feedback during the conference.
