ITMS at AVENGERS Online Workshop
The Avengers project, a Horizon Europe initiative aimed at supporting and improving GHG emission estimates, held an online workshop from 27 to 29 May and invited ITMS to take part.
Under the title “Innovative Approaches in Emissions Monitoring, Inventories, and Inversion Modelling for Climate Application,” the workshop focused on three thematic aspects: “Foundations of MRV (Measurement, reporting and verification) and Emission Inventories,” “Observations and Inverse Modelling for Emission Estimation,” and “Integration and Practical Applications.”
Beatrice Ellerhoff (DWD) presented the ITMS project together with highlight results from its first phase. Valentin Bruch (DWD) presented emission estimates and methods for uncertainty treatment based on the ITMS demonstrator.
The workshop provided a lively exchange with 129 participants from academia, research, government, and industry. It emphasized the importance of combining observations, models, and inventories for more accurate emission estimates and climate‑relevant applications. Thanks to the Avengers project for organising this important event.
